Join us for this discussion with sync music executives on the current condition of the film, tv, advertising, and game sync markets. With covid shifting production schedules, many music supervisors had to shift their music searches and thus music publishers, labels, and sync rep companies were shifting the music they pitched. The current needs of the sync market and potential trends that may be coming will be discussed.

• Heather Cook – Starting her career in music 20 years ago at The Voice Studio in Boston, MA, she later finished her degree in Music Business at Belmont University and went on start and run her own music publishing and artist management company for 3 years. She has served as the Administrative Director for AIMP Nashville and SOLID Alumni President, and is currently a Recording Academy Professional Member & Mentor. In her position at peermusic she is responsible for the marketing, promotion and pitching of peer music’s 90+ year legacy catalog of hit songwriters, producers and artists as well as new emerging talent including Donovan, David Foster, Corey Hart, Poo Bear, Salaam Remi, James Poyser, Taboo and apl.de.ap of The Black Eyed Peas, S.O.S., Black Violin, BJ The Chicago Kid, Andrew Simple, The Royal Foundry, The Undercover Dream Lovers, The Weeks and many more. She has placed songs in commercials for Target, Apple, IKEA, Payless, Marriott, Rooms to Go, Kellogg’s Raisin Bran, KIWI Shoe Polish, Kay Jewelers, Pandora, Nordstrom, J.C. Penney, Hershey’s, and ESPN among others. She is currently completing her Master’s Degree in Music Business at Berklee College of music. In her spare time, she enjoys kayaking, genealogy, candle making and spending time with family.
• Kourtney Kirkpatrick is the VP of Sync at Concord Music Publishing, where she heads up the Television and Trailer/Promo divisions. Working to pitch and license the songs of Concord writers, she represents iconic catalogs such as those of Mark Ronson, George Harrison, Irving Berlin, Phil Collins, Robert Johnson, Rodgers & Hammerstein and more. In her time at Concord, she and her team have secured a number of notable placements in shows such as Big Little Lies, Watchmen, Black Mirror, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Ozark and Grey’s Anatomy as well as Trailer/Promo uses across the networks of Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Apple, Amazon, Starz and brands such as XBOX and Microsoft. Throughout her career, Kourtney has worked to sign and develop sync-friendly writers such as Ruelle, who, for the past 5 years, has been ranked as one the top synced artists on Tunefind’s year-end chart. Prior to Concord, Kourtney worked as Senior Director of Film/TV at Razor & Tie. Kourtney got her start in the industry at indie publisher, Big Yellow Dog Music, where she had the opportunity to start and grow the company’s synch department.
• Liz Rogers is the Founder and Creative Director at Anacrusis, where she oversees new signings, writer development, and pitching creatively for sync. Anacrusis has secured hundreds of placements for emerging artists in Nashville in dozens of shows, films, and advertising campaigns. Liz also is an independent music supervisor, working on several films and documentaries, and is a member of the Guild of Music Supervisors. Liz is an Adjunct Professor at her alma mater Vanderbilt University, the Associate Music Event Producer for the Nashville Film Festival, and an Advisor at the Entrepreneur Center. She was recently honored as one of Nashville’s “30 Under 30”, and was recognized by the Nashville Business Journal on the esteemed power players list “Women In Music City.”
• Alex Stefano is VP, Sync at Big Yellow Dog Music. She began interning at Big Yellow Dog Music in 2013 and was hired full time in early 2015. She leads a team of 3 who have landed numerous placements for BYD’s writers including spots with Target, Apple, Motorola, Rakuten, T-Mobile, ESPN and HBO and in shows and films like Grey’s Anatomy, Lucifer, Riverdale, This is Us, Promising Young Woman, and To All The Boys: Always and Forever. She also has been instrumental in developing and signing producers and artists to the BYD roster.
