Music and Sports
August 21, 2025 @ 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Join AIMP LA’s next webinar for an engaging conversation about how the sports and publishing worlds intersect. We’ll delve into TV licensing, in stadium licensing, and what kind of songs work best for placements. The panel features John Adams (The Score), ∫ (Meredith Fox, LLC), ∫ (MLB Network), Kevin Wilson (ESPN), and AIMP LA director Andrew Wixen (Simplify Music – and a Dodgers season ticket holder!) as moderator.
John Adams is the founder of The Score Music and Sports Marketing, LLC, a dynamic company dedicated to enhancing game-day experiences through strategic music licensing, artist involvement and label connectivity. With a passion for connecting music with sports organizations, John leverages his expertise to place high-energy tracks in stadiums and social media campaigns across sports teams and leagues in the US and Canada including the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, and MLS. His data-driven approach, combined with a knack for building strong client relationships, has positioned The Score as a leader in sports entertainment. Meredith Fox says, “I worked for over 30 years at the NBA, with the first half of my career licensing NBA and WNBA game action footage, and the second half of those years licensing music for the league, and for various teams who asked for my help.
After I retired from the NBA in 2022, a few teams asked if I would continue to license for them, so I started an LLC and am currently licensing music for the Cleveland Cavaliers, their hockey team the Cleveland Monsters, and for the Orlando Magic.”
Geena Martorana is Music & Media Clearances Manager for MLB Network where she oversees complex clearance processes at the intersection of music, television, and sports, while also serving as music supervisor. Prior to joining MLB Network, she held key roles at Smule and The Harry Fox Agency, as well as an internship at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Geena’s background fuels a versatile understanding of both the creative and administrative sides of the music industry, informed by her studies in Studio Composition and Arts Management at SUNY Purchase, and further enhanced by graduate coursework in Data Analytics at Berklee College of Music. She currently serves as Secretary for AIMP’s NY chapter of the Young Professionals Committee, and is thrilled to participate in a discussion surrounding music’s role in sports. Play ball!
Andrew Wixen began his career in music publishing at the age of thirteen, filing papers for his father at Wixen Music. It was here that he discovered the exciting complexities of the industry. After graduating high school, Andrew attended Northeastern University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Business with a minor in Business Administration. He took full advantage of the co-op program, completing three internships: one in the sync department at Warner Special Products, another at Nichion Music in Tokyo, Japan, and a third as a tour manager for the band Left Alone on the Warped Tour.
Upon graduation, Andrew returned to Wixen Music to work with his parents full-time, a role he held until 2023. In August 2024, he founded Simplify Music, a consultancy and advisory firm based in Los Angeles, dedicated to making the music business more accessible for artists. With over 20 years of experience in the music publishing industry, Andrew specializes in royalty reviews, all forms of licensing, and navigating litigation, often resolving disputes through diplomatic measures.
Outside of his professional life, Andrew enjoys maintaining his vegetable garden and playing music, staying connected to his creative roots.
