Linda Komorsky was an amazing music publishing executive and advisor who left us all too soon due to an unfortunate accident. In her career, she held senior-level executive positions at Dimensional Music Publishing and BMG Music Publishing, as well as being president of EG Music. When the digital juke box was created, Linda was hired as TouchTunes Vice President of Business Affairs where she was instrumental in acquiring music licenses for this “new” technology. More recently, she started her own company, International Music Services, that covered music publishing administration and entertainment consultancy.

Linda was extremely generous in all facets of her life, but especially gave back to an industry she so loved. She was a past President of our own AIMP and a past Secretary to our sister organization, the California Copyright Conference (CCC). She also taught a 10-week lecture series on music publishing at the University of California, Los Angeles which was always well attended.

Tony Mastronardi, who founded TouchTunes said, “Within the music industry, Linda was a visionary. Although not from the Internet age, she knew much earlier than most other veterans that the recording industry needed to embrace change and reposition itself for the new reality of downloadable content.”

Singer, songwriter and artist Jennifer Warnes said, “On October 26th, 2014, my beautiful, bright and much beloved friend, ally and advocate, Linda Komorsky, was struck down in a car accident and has left our world. Linda was a highly respected music publisher, one of the first females in a male industry — beautiful, feminine, smart, funny, strong and self reverent. We used to joke that our generation of women were collectively the ‘first pancake on the griddle’. A few rare women of my generation took it upon themselves to embody gender equality long before that idea was popular. To make any social change requires vision and courage. Linda was that girl — in the right place, at the right time, offering the right medicine. She made it all taste good. She was the wind beneath many people’s wings, mine included. I salute her artistry and grace from depths of my feminine heart. I wish Linda had written a book about what she knew. I would give that book to every young woman who aspires to make a difference in the world.”
