September 2, 2021 (Los Angeles) – The Los Angeles Chapter of the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP) has announced the launch of their new Annual Spotlight Event: Where the Music Begins, which will be held on September 9 from 4pm – 6:30pm PT. This gathering of studio creatives and top executives will provide attendees with a sneak peek of what’s ahead in the ever-expanding world of music and visual media through feature panels, conversations, and networking opportunities. Registration for this online event is free and open to the public, and those interested can register online here.

The LA Annual Spotlight Event will feature multiple insightful conversations, including a special keynote address from Joel C. High (Principal Executive at Creative Control Entertainment and President of the Guild of Music Supervisors) and a spotlight conversation with creative music studio executives Dan Butler (Executive Vice President Legal & Business Affairs – Music, Paramount Pictures) and Tony Scudellari (Senior Vice President Television Music, Sony Pictures Entertainment) moderated by Teri Nelson Carpenter (Los Angeles Chapter President, AIMP). The event will also include a spotlight interview with premier composer and musician Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) led by Mike Todd (AVP Film & TV Music/Visual Media, ASCAP), as well as a networking session led by Marc Caruso (Los Angeles Chapter Vice President, AIMP).

“We are so excited to announce our new Annual Spotlight Event for the AIMP hosted by the LA Chapter, which will shine a light on the rapidly evolving relationship between music and visual media well beyond the traditional sync market,” said Teri Nelson Carpenter, AIMP Los Angeles Chapter President. “We’ve been incubating this event since pre-Covid days, and in the past year and a half we’ve seen how quickly gaming, UGC video, livestreaming, esports, and other online channels have become integral with music experiences. We’re looking forward to bringing these communities together.

The AIMP LA Chapter will also be hosting the online panel Leading the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Challenge: Fostering Change on September 28 at 11am PT / 1pm CT / 2pm ET. The panel will be an honest conversation with key industry DEI executives Liliahn Majeed (Chief Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Officer, Universal Music Group) and Tiffany R. Warren (EVP, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, Sony Music Group), moderated by Sandye Taylor (VP, Chief DEI Officer, Broadcast Music Inc.), and will offer attendees insight into how they are guiding and crafting diverse and inclusive work cultures at their companies. The special event will be hosted on Zoom and is free and open to the public. Those interested can register here.
